The last time I was in Copenhagen was 2000 and the only sights I remembered were The Little Mermaid and Nyhavn.  I was definitely excited to go back to Copenhagen and explore with Anthony.

After some research, I decided on an Airbnb in the Vesterbro neighborhood, close to the city center.  Loved the location and charm of the apartment!

Day 1:

The majority of people definitely bike around Copenhagen.  We chose to walk.  First stop was Tivoli Gardens, an amusement park close to the city center and a stone’s throw from the train station.  Once you enter Tivoli Gardens, you are transported to a magical place with beautiful scenery, lush gardens, unique architecture and historic buildings.  This is a must for every visitor to Copenhagen.

There are a multitude of eateries within Tivoli Gardens, but if you are craving organic, farm to table vegetarian, I highly recommend, Gemyse.

Meandering our way towards Nyhavn.

Nyhavn is a 17th century canal port filled with historic buildings, restaurants and bars, and fun people watching!

Of course, we had to stop say hi to the Little Mermaid!

To end our first night, we had an amazing tasting menu at VeVe!

Onion Shell and Salty Meringue

Day 2:

We had a late start, so an Aperol Spritz and a Rosé on a barge seemed like a great way to begin the day!

Our next stop was Freetown Christiania, an alternative neighborhood with homemade houses, organic eateries, art galleries, workshops, and more.  Make sure to pay attention to the do’s and don’ts when walking.  I took some pictures in an area where some “dealings” were happening, and I definitely got yelled at!

Walk through the town and if you get a chance, definitely rent one of their cargo bicycles!  Next stop for us was Reffen, a compilation of workshop areas, food stalls, exhibits and more!  We were definitely ready to try some food.

Until next time Copenhagen!
